Decor
Our barn space is the perfect blank canvas for any themed wedding, but the gorgeous wooden beams and stone walls compliment a rustic theme perfectly! With simple lighting ideas, beautiful blooms and a pretty centrepieces, you can transform this simple space into your dream country venue.
Bunting is a simple yet effective way to incorporate a traditional rustic theme. It’s really simple to make at home, and you can easily personalise it with colourful fabric letters! String lights also add to the shabby chic style.
Get creative with vintage props, particularly to use as table centre pieces. You can dig out old bird cages, long necklaces, typewriters and old suitcases from charity shops for a really authentic vintage look. If something looks too shabby, simply restore with a lick of paint in your theme colour for instant rustic glam.
We really love an eclectic selection of vases, teacups, jars and milk jugs to hold pretty flowers like roses and carnations! Hessian and lace is always a rustic staple as well – you can incorporate this basically anywhere – invites, table cards, settings and centrepieces.
Moss decorations are also becoming increasingly popular for rustic weddings, as they give the space a wonderful, woodsy feel. You can find moss letters, tealight holders and hanging decorations reasonably cheaply online.
Favors
Rustic weddings are the perfect opportunity to get creative with DIY favors. Homemade soap is a lovely gift to give; it’s surprisingly easy to make at home and you can personalise it to reflect your guests’ favourite scents.
Embrace the your theme’s connection to nature by gifting your friends with plant saplings. Potted spruces or succulents are really trendy and will serve as the perfect reminder of your special day. Seeds are an even cheaper alternative and will really appeal to your green fingered guests!
Drinks & Nibbles
An old-fashioned lemonade stand is a really cute way to serve refreshments. Simply fill Kilner style decanter with fruit juice, alcohol, plenty of fresh fruit and ice and let guests serve themselves.
The possibilities are endless with these decanters, so try different combinations of fruits, juices, syrups and alcohol.
For a fun and exciting twist on dessert, set up a country fair-style pie table with a selection of delicious home baked pies! Not only does this really compliment your rustic theme, it ensures there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes – fruit, chocolate, banofee, custard…the possibilities are endless! Serve with cream or ice cream.
Cake
Naked (un-iced) wedding cakes are perfect for this theme. Simply decorate with plenty of fresh fruit, flowers and compote to avoid it looking a bit bare.
If would you prefer an iced cake, incorporate a rustic theme with elements of nature such as sugar flowers and succulents. Serve on a natural wood cake stand.
