Read this guide for tips, ideas and inspiration for creating your dream Lake District rustic wedding at New House Farm! Includes dress, decor, favors, food ideas and more…
Your dress should reflect the casual nature of your rustic barn theme, so choose something that you will feel comfortable and relaxed wearing. We’ve seen lots of different styles of bridal wear that perfectly compliment a rustic theme, particularly flowing bohemian chiffon numbers, broderie anglais dresses and off-the-shoulder Grecian gowns. Vintage inspired dresses also accompany a rustic theme nicely.
To truly incorporate a rustic country theme, why not with your footwear by pairing your wedding dress with battered leather cowboy boots or wellies?! With the right pair of boots this can look surprisingly stylish…and you’re guaranteed to be comfortable all day long!
Tarnished gold jewellery or pearl jewellery is the perfect finishing touch; ask your mum if she’s got any old pieces in her jewellery box for something truly authentic…and your ‘something borrowed’!
Hair and Make Up
We really love a cute, messy up do for rustic barn weddings. There’s so many different ways you can do this – plaits, fishtails, buns…the choice is yours! Long, wavy locks also look great – try weaving in simple flowers such as babies breath for country-girl chic.
We suggest keeping your make up soft and simple. Try warm toned browns and copper tones to add a subtle smokiness to your eyes, the perfect compliment to a nude lip. Keep skin looking fresh and natural – so put that foundation down! Instead, use a mineral powder to cover blemishes, and use a shimmery highlighter and blusher to bring out your skin’s natural beauty.
A barn setting allows you to really have fun with your wedding photos! Visit charity shops on the lead up to the wedding and see if you can find any interesting props…old tarnished mirrors, typewriters, chalkboards etc look great. Or why not have a go at making your own…wooden moustaches/glasses mounted on sticks will prove very popular with your guests!
Our gorgeous Lake District location also provides the perfect backdrop for photographs!
