Continuing on from our last article, read below for inspiration and tips on decor, table settings, lighting, favors and cocktails for an English tea party inspired celebration here at New House Farm!
An English tea party theme is the perfect way to showcase some really unusual decorative features. An eclectic selection of patterns and colours will create an interesting and exciting space for your guests to enjoy, although a pastel palette seems to compliment this look best in the barn!
Make sure there are plenty of fresh flowers dotted around – again, mix and match to create a beautiful array of colours and shapes. Extravagant blooms are exaggerated even more when placed next to simple arrangements of daisies or carnations.
House your flowers in vintage tea canisters, glass jam jars, teapots, assorted vases , milk jugs, old perfume bottles…anything you can find! Browse flea markets, antique centre and charity shops for hidden gems at bargain prices.
Create an exciting tablescape with props like stacks of old books, china teacups with saucers, vintage photo frames etc. Set places with beautiful silverware, linen napkins and china plates – layer dinner plates first, followed by a dessert plate, and finish with a teacup.
You can also give plain chairs a touch of feminine flair by dressing up with satin, lace and tulle coverings and pillows.
Add an elegant ambiance when the lights go down with plenty of decorate lanterns and candles. String lights also give a lovely glow when placed inside mason jars and bottles.
Macaroons make fabulous, cost effective favors and can be made easily at home a few days before the wedding (rope in a few bridesmaids to help)! Place in pretty boxes and give to your guests.

A spring cocktail bar is perfect for an alfresco adults tea party. Fill decanters with lots of fresh fruit and juices to create delicious combinations. Guests can simply top up with their favourite spirits or champagne!
