Tropical beach weddings are a dream for most brides, but are often expensive and stressful to plan. Some of your guests may be unable to travel to your dream destination, and stifling climates can make alfresco ceremonies difficult to pull off.
Instead, why not have a beach-inspired wedding at New House Farm? Our stunning Lakeland Fell location in Lorton Valley will serve the perfect backdrop for a sea-side inspired celebration, and we’re here to help make sure your wedding day is perfect from start to finish.
One of the best things about planning a beach-themed wedding is the opportunity to step away from tradition and opt for some really unique, creative touches. Below we’ve included our favourite ideas for dress, hair, make-up, hair, flowers and photography…
Low-key attire is perfect for a relaxed, beach themed ceremony. Light, airy fabrics such as organza, silk, chiffon or Broderie anglaise will billow beautifully in the breeze and won’t stifle you if the weather is hot. Also, why not have some fun with your accessories – shell necklaces and beaded bracelets will add a touch of surfer chic to your outfit.
Most beach brides ditch traditional heels for their walk down the aisle. If you’d like to do the same, you can dress up your feet with a pretty pedicure and beaded barefoot sandals or gladiators.
Heavy, overdone make up looks out of place on beach brides, so instead opt for something natural. Here’s our top tips for the perfect beach bridal look:
- Mineral powder covers blemishes and is nearly undetectable on skin – remember to blend around your neckline.
- Use bronzer to contour under your cheekbones and a coral blusher to add a healthy, sunkissed glow to the apples of your cheeks.
- You can create a sexy smoky eye with brown/bronze eyeshadow and eyeliner. Finish with a few coats of mascara – full false eyelashes will look too heavy!
- Finally, finish with a nude, pink or peach lipstick.

Create a fun, ocean-inspired bouquet by incorporating seashells, coral and starfish. The best part about these bouquets is that won’t wilt and can be kept forever to serve as a reminder of your day!
Orchids are also a popular choice for beach brides, as they evoke thoughts of tropical islands and look stunning against a white dress.
Add interest to your photos – driftwood, treasure chests, life-savers, nets and rope, maps – any of these nautical props will look fabulous in your photographs. Barefoot photos of you and your groom are also reminiscent of beach photography, as well as a gorgeous sunset shot!
