No bride is complete without an bouquet of beautiful blooms…and winter weddings are no exception. Despite the cold climate, many beautiful varieties of flowers bloom just in time for Christmas, so there’s still plenty of colour and style options to choose for your dream bouquet!
We’ve included our favourite florals below, as well as Lake District wedding florist information.
Deep red roses are the ultimate symbol of love and passion, but they will also add a subtle festive element to your winter bouquet, especially when combined with white flowers and fillers such as Baby’s Breath. Holly berries also add a hint of Christmas.
Tulips are guaranteed to look elegant at any Lake District winter wedding. They grow as a single stem for each flower and are available in a wide range of colours (white, cream, pink, red, purple, violet). The longer French variety can be used to twist round other flowers in your bouquet for a stunning effect.
Availability: December – May
English lavender is a pleasantly aromatic herb with gorgeous purple petals. You may want to use this as a filler flower in your bouquet, but we’ve seen full bunches used at rustic themed weddings and it looks fantastic! Lavender is widely used for it’s relaxing properties, so incorporating it into your bouquet will help to calm any pre-wedding nerves!
White anemones are beautiful, white petaled flowers with delicate black centres. They are perfect for glamorous black tie winter weddings, especially when combined with other winter flowers and succulents in your bouquet. You could also use these as a statement flowers in table centrepieces, or a topper for your wedding cake!
